Transcripts from Kyle's scenes as Philip Kiriakis

SCREEN CAPS COURTESY OF "DAYS AHEAD" AS AVAILABLE.

Beginning with Kyle's first airdate of May 14, 2003:

Love is Blind hunk leans in for a kiss from Belle Black at their date at Tuscany, Shawn Brady runs on set and pushes the hunk to the ground, all are surprised to hear a familiar voice

Belle: I don't believe this. How could we not have known?

Shawn: You didn't tell us you were coming back to Salem.

Mimi: Philip, that was you under the blindfold the whole time?

Shawn: And what are you doing here?

Belle: You told your mom you were being deployed overseas.

Mimi: Why didn't you tell us you were back?

Belle: Why didn't you answer my e-mails? Did you really even go to basic training?

Philip: Hey, hey, I'll explain. Just give me a chance. Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Philip: So you guys didn't even recognize your old friend Phil? I've only known you since kindergarten.

Gabriella: Let's not forget we're still on the air. Sorry, our surprise was supposed to wait for the end of the show.

Philip: Surprise.

Gabriella: Ha ha.

Philip: I apologize. I was just trying to save you a lawsuit, and you an assault charge, tough guy.

Shawn: Yeah, well, sorry tough guy jumped you, but, you know, you were -

Gabriella: But you know what they say. The show must go on. Belle and Philip are still on a date. So now it continues, face-to-face, eye-to-eye. Let's sit down, please. Thank you. And what woman could resist those eyes?

Belle: So this is weird.

Philip: Yeah, I'd have to agree with you on that.

Belle: Well, now, we have a lot to talk about, and you still haven't told me what happened.

Philip: Well, yeah, I did join the Marines, Belle. I wouldn't lie about something like that. I just graduated from basic.

Belle: Congratulations.

Philip: Thanks.

Belle: You do seem...

Philip: Different? Yeah, well, it was, uh... it was very different. It was the hardest thing I ever did. But it was the most rewarding, too.

Belle: So what happened?

Philip: Well, I'm still a Marine. I'm still on active duty. I just happened to get stationed locally.

Belle: Wow.

Philip: Yeah, um, I was pretty surprised myself, actually.

Belle: So they're -- they're just letting you do this show.

Philip: Believe it or not, they're encouraging it. They think it's going to be good publicity for the corps. At least I hope I'm projecting a positive image.

Belle: Hey, wait, are you stationed at that base where my dad used to take us to watch the air shows?

Philip: On the other side of Brookfield, yeah.

Belle: How long are you there for?

Philip: I don't know, but I'll be around a while.

Belle: So, um, what's your job? What do you do?

Philip: Well, I'm not really allowed to discuss my actual duties.

Belle: Oh.

Philip: So you're still living in the dorms, huh?

Belle: Yeah.

Belle: So do your parents know you're back?

Philip: No. Um, they're probably going to be just as surprised as everybody else, especially if they're watching this.

Man: And we're now in commercial.

Gabriella: Great job, guys. Okay, when we come back from commercial, I need you to wrap up the memory lane stuff. TV's all about the moment, the present -- why you're together now. Got it?

Belle: I still can't believe this is happening. I was so worried about you.

Philip: I'm really sorry I couldn't tell you guys before, really.

Mimi: I still can't believe we didn't recognize you this whole time.

Man: Okay, guys, we are back on air in 10. 5, 4, 3, 2...

Philip: So... belle... how many other guys do you know that like liver and onions?

Belle: None.

Philip: You didn't think I'd pick you, did you?

Belle: No.

Philip: You were always so unassuming. You know, you have no idea how special you are.

Belle: Philip.

Philip: What I think is ridiculous is that I get to choose. I mean, all three of you beautiful, smart women -- you could have any guy you want. Why did you do the show?

Belle: It's a long story.

Philip: All right, well, you don't have to say. I just know that you're not the type of person, Belle, to do something impulsive and unplanned. I mean, live TV? Unlike me, you've always been so together. You never judged me. You were always fair. You were always there for me for as long as I can remember. I was really, really looking forward to going to Columbia with you. I mean, for me, to have someone right there by me who was so prepared and smart -- I've really missed you.

Belle: I've missed you, too.

Philip: So how's Sami?

Belle: Sami -- Sami's good. She and Brandon are still together.

Philip: Tiramisu.

Belle: Me too.

Philip: Oh, why don't we just order one?

Belle: Okay.

Philip: So what have you been up to?

Belle: Oh, you know

Belle: Really good.

Philip: I know. I'm glad you wanted to order dessert.

Belle: That's one thing you can always count on with me.

Philip: But you'd never know from looking at you. You're a real person, Belle. I was a stuck-up rich kid, but she was a rich kid who never let anybody know.

Belle: Philip, you're embarrassing me.

Philip: And she blushes really easily, and if you ever, ever mention any

Belle: Philip!

Philip: Hey, I'll stop. I've had fun tonight.

Belle: Yeah. It's not half as bad as I expected it to be.

Philip: Wow, thanks. You're tough.

Belle: You always say that.

Philip: Belle's all about results. It doesn't matter what you say. It's the follow-through that counts, right?

Belle: That's right, Mr. Incommunicado.

Philip: Not anymore -- ever.

Gabriella: Okay, guys and girls. Sorry to say your dinner date's coming to an end -- unless, of course, you want to continue on your own time. But if you have any final words...

Philip: Yeah, I'd actually like to say something, Gabi. I'd like to say something to all the men and women in our armed forces protecting our country around the world. Be safe. We're all behind you. Semper Fi.

Gabriella: Thanks, Philip. Thanks, belle. Girls, if you'll join us on set. In appreciation of your spirited participation in "Love is Blind," we'd like to award each of you a cash prize of $50,000.

Mimi: [ Gasps ] Oh, my god. Oh, my god. I've never seen this much money before.

Belle: Mimi, just breathe. Breathe. Doesn't Philip get a prize?

Gabriella: That's you, girl. You want to take a deep breath? 'Cause it's time for our couple to have a good night kiss.

Belle: Oh, but we -- we already

Gabriella: Uh, kissus interruptus -- the first one doesn't count. Not that it's any hardship puckering up to this guy. Make this one count.

Philip: Thanks for tonight, Belle.

Gabriella: Uh, love may be blind, but we're not.

Gabriella: You should feel the temperature on the set. Now that's chemistry. Destiny might be on their side. Time will tell. Thank you for tuning in. I'm Gabi Ortiz, and this is "Love is Blind." Good night.

Gabriella: And it's a wrap. Okay, let's go. It's a wrap, guys. Come on. Thanks.

Philip: That was all for the cameras. You know that, right?

Shawn-d: Yeah, sure.

Victor: Philip.

Philip: Dad. Did you see me on TV?

Victor: What do you think you're doing?

Philip: Dad, I wanted to tell you I was home, but I had to honor my contract with the show. It was supposed to be a surprise until tonight.

Victor: So you let your mother believe you were deployed overseas in harm's way? Do you have any idea how hurt she was that you didn't call to say goodbye?

Philip: But, Dad, I never actually left. I wasn't going to lie to her. Besides, it's not like I failed basic or disgraced myself or something. Did you hear? I got stationed here.

Victor: Yes.

Philip: Plus, you know, I'm glad I'm not going to have to miss any more family stuff -- like your wedding. Congratulations, by the way.

Victor: Thank you. I'll get Nicole. You can tell her, too.

Philip: Thanks.

Brady: Phil.

Philip: Brady.

Brady: Welcome home.

Philip: Thanks.

Brady: So, what's with this whole sneaking into town thing? You're afraid we wouldn't be happy to see you?

Philip: Who wouldn't be happy -- you or Chloe?

Brady: Philip, nobody wants you off fighting where you can get hurt.

Philip: Well, that's what I signed up to do -- to defend my country.

Brady: Then why the hell are you here?

Philip: Because I follow orders.

Brady: What, to do a dating show? To stick your tongue down my sister's throat while her boyfriend watches the whole thing?

Philip: Look, I'm the eligible bachelor here. I didn't think Belle would do the show if she wasn't available. I didn't come here to hurt anybody's relationship. I care about Belle. I care about Chloe, too. Hey, I didn't come here to steal your girlfriend, Brady. I've moved on. I'm a U.S. Marine, okay? Honor, creed, country -- you can take my word. So Chloe -- she's doing okay, though?

Brady: Well, as far as Dr. Wesley is concerned, yeah, she's doing great, which is why she sent me to tell you -- Chloe wants you to see with your own eyes how well she's doing, so you can put the past where it belongs and not worry about her.

Philip: She wants me to come see her?

Brady: When you get the chance, yeah. Just not tonight -- she's home sleeping.

Philip: Yeah, I don't want to stress her out. The last thing I want to do is set back her recovery in any way.

Brady: Good. I'll see you around.

Philip: Okay. See you.

Cassie: Hey.

Philip: Hey, I hope there's no hard feelings about that whole dating thing.

Cassie: Oh, no, it's just a game. I understand. Besides, you must still look at me as some sort of alien freak.

Philip: I never thought of you that way, Cassie. You know that. I always liked you. I thought you'd figure everything out, and I think you obviously have.

Victor: Excuse us, please.

Cassie: Okay. I'll talk to you later.

Philip: What?

Victor: Do you know who that is?

Philip: That's Cassie, the ex-alien who's really A...

Victor: Dimera.

Philip: Belle's half-sister. Dad, if you don't like Cassie, even though I'm sure you don't even know her

Victor: Nor do you.

Philip: That's not important. You couldn't wait for me to grow up. Well, guess what. I am grown up now. You can't have it both ways. I run my own life, just like you run yours, Dad. Speaking of which, where's Nicole?

Victor: She stepped out.

Philip: Oh.

Victor: We'd like you to come over for dinner next time you have a leave.

Philip: Well, I don't think that's going to be for a while, but I am going to be in Salem. I am working at the Marine Recruiting Office.

Victor: Well, stop in whenever you can.

Philip: Well, thanks, I will.

Victor: I'm sure I don't have to tell you your mother

Philip: I'm going to see her first thing tomorrow, Dad.

Victor: Good. Good to see you.

Philip: You too.

Victor: I'm glad you're back, son.

Philip: Thanks.

Cassie: I hope that wasn't about me.

Philip: Nope.

Cassie: Good. I thought I was never going to get you all to myself.

Cassie: So, I've -- I've changed a lot since the last time you saw me, huh?

Philip: Oh, yeah.

Cassie: When I first came to Salem, if I would've been rejected, it would've devastated me, but now I'm learning about the complexities to human relationships.

Philip: Oh, yeah?

Cassie: So you are forgiven.

Philip: Well, thanks for being understanding, Cassie, but I got to get back to the base, okay?

Cassie: Oh, don't tell me they pay you enough to afford a car.

Philip: Um, no.

Cassie: So then how did you get here?

Philip: Well, the show picked me up. They were going to take me back, too.

Cassie: Oh, I'll drive you.

Philip: It's an hour away.

Cassie: It's okay.

Philip: Cassie, you got to have something better to do.

Cassie: I don't. Anyhow, it's part of my education. I've never been with a Marine before. I have never spent time with a Marine before. And you were so cool to me when you -- when you were first here before you left town. I don't know. I remember all the advice you gave me on love and relationships.

Philip: I don't think I would take any of my advice, believe me.

Cassie: Do not turn me down twice.

Philip: Well, if you don't mind stopping somewhere and waiting...

Cassie: I'm at your disposal.

[Doorbell rings]

Kate: Uhh! That's probably for me. I'm having a messenger sent from Basic Black so I can work from here today.

Roman: Good idea. Let me get the door. Philip!

Philip: Hi, Captain Brady. I understand my mom --

Kate: Philip! Oh, my god! Oh, you're home! Really home. Ahh...(hug)

Kate: Oh, I am so glad you're here. We thought you shipped out. Oh, honey, come in.

Philip: Well, my outfit was shipped out, but I was transferred, and then I got reassigned.

Roman: Really? Why?

Philip: Well, who knows? It's the corps, you know. I just follow orders.

Kate: Oh, why didn't you call? I was so worried about you.

Philip: Well, mom, I actually got a chance to be on this TV reality show called Love is Blind. I don't know if you've heard of it.

Kate: Oh, yeah, I've heard of it. I haven't watched it.

Philip: Right. But I was chosen to be the mystery hunk, and so I couldn't let Belle and Mimi and the rest of the gang know that it was me.

Kate: Really?

Philip: Yeah.

Kate: Oh, we're gonna have to hear all about that. Ooh. I should get dressed. I'll be right back, though.

Philip: So...

Roman: [ Chuckles ] So... why'd you come back to Salem, Philip? What's the real reason?

Philip: Captain Brady, it's like I said -- I was transferred and then reassigned to the base outside of town.

Roman: That make you happy?

Philip: Well, I like being close to my family, yeah. I mean part of me still wants to be with my marine buddies doing my share overseas. So you and my mom are getting pretty serious, huh?

Roman: Yeah, we are. Yeah, we've been spending a lot of time together.

Philip: Well, good. I hope it works out. She hasn't had much luck when it comes to men.

Roman: Yeah, well, I haven't had a whole lot of luck when it comes to women. Have you?

Philip: You really know how to sidestep an issue.

Roman: So do you.

Philip: Hoo-rah.

Roman: Hoo-rah -- Marine.

Kate: Well, now, can I get you something to eat?

Philip: No, I'm not hungry, mom. It's okay.

Kate: I'm not hungry, either. I am just so excited. Oh, honey, just when I thought things couldn't get any better, you have come home.

Philip: -- now, those first few weeks, I just got my legs beneath me, and after that, I mean, boot camp wasn't so bad.

Kate: Oh, honey, I am so glad to hear that. Now, did you shine?

Philip: Well, some, yeah. I mean, I won a few medals, and they picked me for S.E.A.L. Training.

Roman: Damn. Why'd they do that, Philip?

Philip: Um, I mean, I had training that was good as the S.E.A.L.S get.

[Doorbell rings]

Kate: Oh, that must be my messenger. I'll get it.

Philip: What? Why are you looking at me like that?

Roman: What do you think? I want to what you're really up to, Philip.

Chloe: Philip. Give me a couple of minutes. I'll be right there!

Chloe: Mm. I'm feeling very well, too.

Philip: Yeah.

Chloe: Hey, and you look good, too.

Philip: How are you doing, Brady?

Brady: Fine. How are you?

Philip: Great. Glad to be back. Chloe, when I heard the news -- was -- incredible news. I am so happy for you.

Chloe: Thank you. And you look really great.

 Philip: You already said that.

Chloe: Oh, I did. Um, oh, well.

Philip: Well, look; we have a lot to talk about. It's really nice out. I thought maybe could go for a -- or even to the

Brady: That's not really a good idea. No strong enough yet.

Chloe: Im fine.

Chloe: --Brady's right. I probably shouldn't go anywhere. Um, we can talk in the living room. How is that?

Philip: Absolutely.

Philip: So, are we all going to talk?

Brady: Why the hell are you saying that? Am I not part of

Chloe: Look, since there obviously still is some tension between you two, I think it would be better if Philip and I talk alone -- just for a little while.

Brady: All right. I'll be back in 15 minutes.

Philip: --

Brady: --

Philip: You really do look great, though, Chloe

Chloe: Thank you. I'm feeling stronger every day.

Chloe: So, your mom's excited that you're back, huh?

Philip: Real excited. I saw her before I came over here. She was at Roman Brady's.

Chloe: Yeah, I heard they were dating now.

Philip: And I saw my dad. That was fun.

Chloe: Yeah, it must have been a real laugh riot.

Philip: [Chuckles] Thanks.

Chloe: The Marines have really changed you, Philip. There's something different about you. You seem really confident.

Philip: I don't know about that, Chloe. I mean, I think I'm still insecure about a lot of stuff, but being away -- you know, being away from home -- the discipline of it, having a chance to think about my life and what I need to do -- yeah, it's been really good for me. But nothing compared to what you've been through. Chloe, I've thought about you so much. When mom told me that your sister was born, it was just amazing -- that she saved you, right?

Chloe: Yeah, she did. I'm very lucky.

Philip: Oh! I have something for you.

Chloe: You do?

Philip: Yeah. I won that at boot camp, breaking the obstacle course record. As soon as the guy handed it to me, I knew I was going to give it to you.

Chloe: Why?

Philip: Chloe, the whole time I was away, I imagined you standing here looking at me just like this -- smiling, -- as beautiful as ever -- the difficult obstacle course of all, and you've won. I'm so proud of you.

Man: Philip, where are you going -- this date?

Man: She looks great, doesn't she?

Woman: Why'd you pick her?

Philip: Guys, I can give you a simple answer for all this. There's a little saying we have in the Marines -- that when you touch down on the absolute truth of something, when you connect on a primal level with another Marine, you say, Hoo-rah. And that's what I'm saying right now -- hoo-rah, baby.

Man: Aww! All right

Woman: Ha ha ha ha! Right!

Man: You look like a "hoo-rah" couple, that's for sure.

Woman: You guys really look good together. Ay, so you still haven't told me where you're going.

Man: There's going to be a second date.

Week starting Monday, May 19, 2003:

Nico: Hello, Mr. Philip. Welcome back.

 Philip: New job, Nico?

Nico: Nah. Henderson's busy. You're here to see your dad, right?

 Philip: If he's around.

Nico: I'll get him for you.

 Philip: Thanks.

Nicole: Wow. I always was a sucker for a man in uniform.

 Philip: Nicole.

Nicole: It's great to see you, Philip. Look at you. My, you've gotten even more handsome.

Philip: Thank you. You look well, too.

Nicole: Really? Because I feel like I've aged 10 years in the past few months.

Philip: Why is that? You and dad are getting along, right? I mean, from his e-mails, he makes it sound like you guys are really happy.

Nicole: Does he? Well, if Titan ever goes under, Victor can always write fiction for a living.

Victor: Philip. Good to see you, son. And don't take Nicole's complaining seriously. The truth is, we get along famously. We're growing closer every day.

Victor: I want to hear all about this base you've been assigned to. What are you doing there? How are they treating you?

Philip: Well, they're treating me fine. Look, I really got to get going, dad. Um, I just came by to say a quick hello.

Victor: What's the rush? Where are you off to?

Philip: Well, I've got this P.R. Thing to do for that love is blind TV show, and then I'm going to try to track down Brady. He and I have some unfinished business to take care of before I head back to the base.

 Victor: What sort of business?

Philip: It's no big deal. Do you know where he is?

Victor: I spoke to him earlier. He said he was going to the, uh, to the Blue Note.

 Philip: The Blue Note. Great.

Victor: I'm glad you're back, son.

Philip: Me too. And next time, it'll be a real visit, I promise.

Victor: We're going to hold you to that.

 Philip: I'll be in touch.

Nicole: Take care of yourself, Philip.

Philip: You too.  Both of you.

Philip: Hey, Belle.

 Belle: Whoa. Ha ha.

[Girls cheering]

 Belle: Philip!

 Philip: How's it going, Shawn?

Shawn-D: Just fine, Phil. Just fine.

Philip: You know, Belle, ever since our televised date, I can't stop thinking about you. Have you missed me as much as I have missed you?

Belle: Oh, you know, Phil, I'm just so glad that you're here.

Philip: Me too. By the way, is your cell phone broken?

Belle: What are you talking about?

Philip: Gabi's trying to get a hold of you. She called me, like, half a dozen times.

Belle: I turned it off during lunch, and I forgot to turn it back on. Why, what's the big deal?

Philip: We have a public appearance today at a supermarket opening.

Shawn-D: Supermarket? Wow, you guys really made the big time.

Belle: Oh, my god, the woman left me seven messages. I better call her back.

[Cellular phone rings]

Belle: Oh, she beat me to it. Hello. Hey, Gabi. I know. I'm with Philip right now. At the Brady Pub. All right, look, I will wait for you here. Well, I guess I just have to face up to it. My life is no longer my own.

Cassie: Hi, belle. Shawn. Hey there, marine boy. How's it going?

Gabriella: Hi. Belle, Philip, time to get going.

 Belle: Right now?

Gabriella: Yes, right now. You're expected at your personal appearance in a few minutes. And need I remind the two of you; you are not part of the love couple.

Shawn-D: Nope. No need, Gabi. It's seared into my memory.

Gabriella: Please, I've asked you repeatedly to keep your distance from Belle. And what are you doing hanging all over Philip?

Belle: Lighten up, Gabi. No one's breaking any of your rules.

Gabriella: Good. See that it stays that way. Now, the three of us have got to get going.

Philip: Hey, Gabi, by the way, this is the last of these public appearances I'm going to do, okay? After this, I'm going back to work as a Marine.

Gabriella: No, you can't abandon us. We need you. You and Belle have monster "q" scores.

Philip: Yeah, well, I also have a job to do.

Belle: And I have classes that I have to go to.

Gabriella: Do you know how many people would give up everything for this? You kids are TV stars. Do you not get how lucky you are? Oh, no, look at the time. We gotta get going. Come on. Bye, girls!

Belle: So, okay, I used to think that these, like, ribbon-cutting ceremonies were kind of dorky, but, um, after actually doing one, I know they are.

Philip: Yeah. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it was something, you know, more important than a supermarket.

Belle: I think this whole fame thing is highly overrated.

Philip: Yeah. Before I joined the Marines, I think  I would have gotten really into it, but now it's...

Belle: Philip, why did you enlist? I mean, I know part of the reason was Chloe.

Shawn-D: Yeah. So, how was the supermarket opening?

Belle: It was actually pretty silly.

 Shawn-D: No kidding.

Philip: You know what? I got to get back to the base.

Cassie: I'll give you a lift.

Philip: Oh, I don't need one. I took a car from the base motor pool.

 Cassie: Oh.

Philip: It was fun, Belle. Thanks.

 Belle: Yeah.

Philip: I'll see you later, Shawn.

Cassie: I'm taking off, too. Bye.

 Belle: Bye, guys.

Cassie: You know, the next time you want to come into town, just let me know. I'll drive you.

Philip: Okay, I will.

 Cassie: Okay.

May 20, 2003:

Philip: Hi.

Chloe: Hi, Philip. It's nice to see you, only...

Philip: Only what?

Chloe: Only, uh, maybe you shouldn't be here.

Philip: I came to hear you sing.

Nancy: Well, I think there's been some sort of mistake. You see, Chloe's not performing for the general public. This is for an invited audience only.

Philip: I know.

Brady: He knows. I invited Philip here tonight.

Nancy: What? !

Chloe: I don't understand. You invited Philip to hear me sing?

Brady: Well, you two are good friends.

Chloe: Yeah, but -- I don't mean to be rude, Philip. I'm just surprised, that's all.

Philip: I don't have to stay.

Nancy: Okay. Well, then, fine. Why don't you just go home or back to the base, or wherever it is you're living now?

Brady: Chloe, I didn't mean to upset you. I just thought it would be a good thing for Philip to see that you've moved on with your life, that you have recovered physically and you're looking forward to the future.

Philip: I'm glad you're happy, Chloe.

Chloe: Thank you. And I'm not really upset that you're here. I'm just generally paranoid and anxious about having to sing.

Nancy: And having an ex-boyfriend around is the last thing you need to make you nervous.

Chloe: Philip won't make me nervous. I know he wishes me well.

Philip: The best.

Chloe: And, as usual, you were right, Brady. Inviting Philip was a great idea.

Philip: So, break a leg, or whatever people say.

Chloe: Thanks.
